Day Dream had the Blues. She had wanted the Greens, or even the Reds would have been nice, but her mother was standing near them, and at the moment the little foal was ignoring her mother, frequently sending dangerous looks in her direction, all of which were ignored. Tossing her little, tufty mane angrily, Day Dream stuffed her head into the thick, blueish grass that grew on the hilly slopes bordering the large waterfall, and pretended to be perfectly content, making oversized chomping movements with her mouth. She ventured a glance up. Remedy was taking no notice at all! In fact she was sleeping peacefully under the shade of an old oak tree. Day snorted, her head shooting up out of the grass. Well! She thought. I'll leave then! I'm not standing this cruelty anymore! She wouldn't even notice I'm gone!
Deciding to ignore the fact that her mother was in fact only asleep, Day gave a vigorous flick of her tail and, holding her dainty head high, she trotted past Remedy, and made a point of making it a very loud trot (If trot's can be loud).
As she approached the border of the woods, she turned to see Remedy still sleeping, unaware of her daughters whereabouts. Day's stride faltered, but her youthful pride just got stronger, so, at a slightly slower pace, Day set off into the woods...

"What are you doing out here all alone?" Amaya asked her golden mane shimmering in the darkness. The little filly was small, only a yearling. I wonder why she is out here alone. Family fighting? I saw the older horse out there go to sleep, but I didn't think the filly would venture into the woods! Amaya thought. She was probably frightening to the filly. She was big and dark colored. In the woods the only visible was her mane and tail. She took a small step forward, to see what the filly would do.

Day Dream heard the voice of a mare and, feeling suddenly quite proud of herself, she swung round, her forelegs planted quite far apart and her ears fully forwards.
"Mum! I knew you had been ignoring me! Thats just not -"
Suddenly Day broke off, all of a sudden realizing that this was, in fact, not her Mother, who was still dreaming under the oak tree.
"... Oh. So she still hasn't noticed? Pah! Parents these days!"
Day said, tossing her little head. Then, noticing that she had been asked a question, she quickly corrected her 'very un-marelike' posture - as her mother would have said.
"Ah... Ahem. Alone? Yes, alone. Right. Well, I decided to go and talk to someone who actually notices me and doesn't continuously fall asleep. I was thinking of Willow Lake, but I suppose not many horses talk to lakes anymore..."
Day Dream trailed off as she considered this. Perhaps horses talk to trees instead nowdays? She thought poderously. She was about to ask the dark mare her opinion when she took a small step forward. The dark shadows that had been hiding her face slid off, floating down to the forest floor. Day started back slightly, having been caught off-guard. Her face suddenly brightened.
"Hey! I'm sure I've seen you around before! Oh, hang on... maybe it was someone else... yeh, sorry, that was my Mom. You kinda look alike though, I mean you're both tall...ish, and you're both brown... sort of. Well, maybe you don't look that similar."
Day finalised. She had a tendancy to ramble on a bit. She shook her head, and decided to forget the matter.
"Anyway! My name's Day Dream. But you can just call me Day. Or Dream. Or Daytime Dreamer if you're really posh, like Mom."

"I never knew horses talked to lakes but.... oh well. I've never met you, sorry. Your mother seems really... what's the word? Oh yeah, lazy." Amaya said. "I think I'll call you Dream. It seems to fit better. I'm Amaya." I'm pretty sure no horse ever talked to lakes.... at least she has an active imagination..... "I was looking for somebody. Well, lets see, he's about 15 hands tall and is a pure black Arabian. Have you seen him?" Amaya asked. Maybe she has seen him... I must find him! Amaya thought. The filly was painted like an Indian pony.

Day grinned up at the pretty mare. Amaya - why didn't her mom think of that?
"So you're not posh? Thank goodness for that! No one's ever called me Dream before... hmm... I guess I kinda like it! Yeh... Dream, Defender of all things Small and Fluffy! Apart from moss, of course."
Dream flicked her tail, stamping her hoof down into the hard eath. Who would be defender of moss? They wouldn't really do much.
"Do you really think my Mom's lazy? Not many mare's say that. They should really follow your example... hmm."
Dream frowned to herself. She had decided she liked the mare, and was trying to figure whether she had seen any Mom's height Arabians.
"Hmm. There were quite a few horses talking to Mom earlier. Of course, I was ignored, mostly, but there was a taller, black Arabian mare, two black fifteen hand freisian's, and a fifteen handish Chocolate Palomino. Nothing that seems to fit it exactly. You could try down at Starcatcher Valley; I heard there were lots of horses there."
Dream tossed her mane, which was strangely tufty for a yearling, so it looked more like a wobble.
"Of course, lots of the horses there just stare at you like you're Viyna himself, or some other weird sub-species. Or maybe that's just me."
This thought had never even crossed Dream's mind. No wonder no one talked to lakes, it was because the lake prefered to talk to her! Dream thought of how silly she had been not to realise this.
"You should be Ok, though. There are a few black horses down there, so you should be able to merge in with the herd. There's even that Chocolate Palomino I was telling you about!"

"I m not like most mares. I am often times compared to stallions. I do think she is lazy, but that is just my opinion. I think I'll be going now, I may be back later, but I don't know. Maybe someone else will come and talk to you for a while." Amaya said. "Yeah, I think being a defender of moss would be weird, not to mention boring. Well, I gotta go!" Amaya said as she walked past Dream and as soon as she was out of the woods she took off into a fast gallop and she zipped by Remedy, hoping to wake her. She would put in a word for the filly to some of the colts she would meet.

"Well, I'm back. That didn't take long. I had no luck looking for him." Amaya said as she approached Dream. She stood there nd sighed. At this rate, she wouldn't be doing much. She wondered where Dark Fire might be. She had never met him, but knew he was somewhere. She thought about her mother's description of him the last time they had met up. "You will know it is him, for he is big and black. He also loves racing, so it wouldn't be hard to figure that it is him." Those were her mother's last words to her.

Dream looked up to see Amaya walking toward her. She gave a huge grin, clearly happy to see the dark mare.
"Well, hello again Amaya! You'll never guess who turned up just after you left!"
Dream guessed it must be pretty easy, but ignored it and went on.
"MUM! Oh, and a weird bay stallion who kept on peering at me as if I was an oddly shaped tree. But anyway, basically she said I was big enough to do what I wanted now."
Dream sounded immensely pleased with herself, although she didn't understand the full meaning of this. She shook her strange mane proudly.
"No luck? Never mind! I did! I saw a black horse staring into the lake, like he was... erm... talking to it, I guess. Or maybe he was just drinking. Anyway, what's your friends name, and maybe we can go see if he's still there!"
Dreamer was becoming more and more excited by the second. She could do what she wanted, Amaya had come back and she was looking for a black horse! Come to think of it, there were quite a few black horses around, but she quickly dismissed the thought, positive it was Amaya's horse she had seen.
